Mo Man, King of the Woods

For Thelma, who now can watch over our Mo every day from above.

Loving people found me
and brought me to the Ranch...

They wanted so much to save me
from my pitiful circumstance.

I couldnt see a thing,
my head was such a mess.

I thought that I was dead,
but instead my life was blessed.

With prayes and tender care
They put me on my feet.

I had to learn to walk again
I had to learn to eat.

They said I had a damaged brain
And would live forever in a cage.

They still had hope I would see again
I was strong and young in age.

I began to look like a different coon
My hair and eyes were bright.

Hope was leaning hard my way
And prayers were said every night.

My dear friend Nancy who rescued me
Came to visit me one day.

Thelma couldnt come that time
But her prayers were sent my way.

They couldnt believe how fat I was
And how soft my furry coat.

Still I was not acting like a healthy coon
My behavior strange to note.

I went to live with my friend Racquel
Who provided therapy.

She spent time giving me challenges
That would prove that I COULD SEE!!

I grew strong and fat and learned to walk
As well as any coon.

Could it possibly be a miracle?
Could I be well again so soon?

As the days and weeks and months went by
I found my wild self again.

I wanted to be who I once was
I remembered I was happier then.

I began to hide when my friends appeared
And scratch and growl and bite.

Life was changing rather fast
I was winning my endless fight.

And then one day, my dreams came true
In the safety of a tree.

My world had become mine again
My friends had set me free.

For all that loved that battered coon
And all the prayers you prayed.

Dont think that I could have ever found
A better place to stay.

But now I live in Nature's hands
And its where I am happiest.

You loved me when you took care of me
But this is when you loved me best.

I thank you for your special care
You did everything you could.

And now I will go on because of you
Mo Man, King of the Woods.

Love to Nancy, Thelma, Scott and LeAnn who found and saved him, bringing him to me
And Racquel Ringling of Ringling's Little Rascals who carried out the miracle of his release.
